ROLE OVERVIEW
The Cybersecurity Intern is an entry-level opportunity designed for fresh graduates or final-year students pursuing a degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline. The intern will gain practical, hands-on exposure across cybersecurity operations, security monitoring, vulnerability management, and security awareness activities under the direct mentorship of senior security professionals.
AREAS OF EXPOSURE & LEARNING
- Security Operations Centre (SOC) — Monitoring, alerting, and incident triage
- Vulnerability Assessment & Penetration Testing (VAPT) fundamentals
- Identity & Access Management (IAM) — User provisioning and access reviews
- Security Awareness — Content development and phishing simulation support
- GRC — Policy documentation, risk register maintenance, and compliance checklists
- Network Security — Firewall rules review, log analysis, and basic threat hunting
REQUIRED SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
- Basic understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S, firewalls, VPNs).
- Familiarity with operating systems including Windows Server, Linux, and Active Directory.
- Exposure to cybersecurity concepts such as the CIA triad, OWASP Top 10, and common attack vectors.
- Basic scripting or programming knowledge in Python, Bash, or PowerShell is advantageous.
- Awareness of frameworks such as NIST CSF, ISO 27001, or MITRE ATT&CK is a plus.
- Eager to learn, proactive, and able to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist the Security Operations team with monitoring alerts, triaging incidents, and escalating issues as appropriate.
- Support vulnerability scanning activities and assist with documenting remediation tracking.
- Contribute to the development of security awareness training materials and communication content.
- Assist with access review processes, user provisioning audits, and IAM administration tasks.
- Help maintain GRC documentation including risk registers, policy libraries, and compliance trackers.
- Participate in security team meetings, training sessions, and knowledge-sharing activities.
- Produce clear and accurate reports on assigned tasks and present findings to supervisors.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline. Participation in CTF (Capture the Flag) competitions, cybersecurity clubs, or personal labs/projects is a strong advantage. Entry-level certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CEH, or Google Cybersecurity Certificate are desirable but not mandatory.
